Oinoforos of Lesvos Enotouristm Facility Oinoforos of Lesvos, a unique enotourism facility of high standards located in the North Aegean,is based on the island of Lesvos, approximatelytwo kilometers awayfrom the city center of Mytilini (the capital city of the island), in the Outza industrial zone. This family business has been active in the production of quality wines since 2009 with special organoleptic characteristicsfrom local varieties cultivatedin the vineyardsof Lesvos (in the villages of Kariona and Megalochori), at an altitude of approximately 700 meters and in ideal climatic conditions of sunshine, ventilation and soil. The first wine labels produced by the Oinoforos winery were the Daphnis and Chloe dry white and red wines. Both were inspired by the homonymous pastoral novel written in the early 3rd century AD by Longus. The first one is produced by the local grape varieties of Kalloniatiko, Fokiano and Assyrtiko, while the second by the varieties of Mandilaria, Vapsa and Fokiano. The winery produced next three labels: Makara by Kalloniatiko and Fokiano grape varieties, DOLCE KLEOPATRA by Fokiano, Kalloniatiko and Moscato grape varieties and ROSÉ KLEOPATRA by Fokiano and Savatiano grape varieties. All wines are available both in Greece and abroad (mainly in the US, China and Switzerland) in 750 ml and 187ml bottles respectively. At the same time, the winery produces wines in bulk that combine the excellent quality with an affordable price (red dry and semi-sweet, white dry and semi-sweet, rosé) in 5lt and 10lt packages. To produce their labels, the Oinoforos winery follows the classic white vinification which takes place at 18 °C from red grapes of the local of Fokiano and Kalloniatiko varieties and the classic red vinification of short or long ripening, depending on the characteristics of the grape varieties and the wines, which, combined with the wine’s ripening and the continuous checks throughout the creative course of the vinification, emphasize the organoleptic characteristics of the grapes of our place and highlight the potentials of the Lesvos vineyards. For many years, the wines produced in the Oinoforos winery have been travelling to international exhibitions and been part in international competitions, where they have been awarded with gold, silver and bronze prizes. For example at the California International Exhibition the red Daphnis and Chloe label was awarded the goldenprize, at the International Exhibition of San Diego the white Daphnis and Chloe was awarded the silverprize and at the International Exhibition in Shanghai the latter was awarded the bronze prize. The experience of the Oinoforos winery includes the cellar with its oak tree barrels and collection of vintage vinification equipment, ideal for guided toursand photo-shooting courtesy of the experienced and specializing staff, the sampling room where guests can taste the high quality wines of the winery, the conference area/screening room which can be booked presentations, conferences, seminars and professional events and finally the music stage, suitable for cultural events of any kind. Wedding tourism Since 2010, the “Oinoforos Estate” has been hosting a multitude of wedding receptions and christenings in a facility of high aesthetic and upgraded services, attracting visitors from all over Greece and abroad; promoting thuswedding tourism.The outdoor reception area consists of“rich”plantationand the unparalleled view of the Aegean Sea and the castle of Mytilene, fountains of running water, modern and fully equipped bars, a playground for children and a vast dance floor.The areaincludes high-quality sound installations, modern lighting effects, spot lighting, a projector for displaying videos and an electric generator that ensures the uninterrupted continuation of the event in case of a power failure.The facility is also accessible to people with disabilities. In addition, avast parking space is provided. In case of adverse weather conditions, a warm and stylish indoor space covered by a folding glass patio is available. On the day of the reception, quality and delicious food is cooked by fresh products of the Lesvian land with local olive oil. At the same time, live cooking is available. The meals are accompanied by unlimited excellent quality bottled wine of the Oinoforos winery. A comfortable and fully equipped suite is available to the couple for relaxation and refreshment throughout the event. All the above attest that “Oinoforos Estate” is a "cradle of civilization" of the Northern Aegean, with the knowledge, experience, professionalism, passion and welcoming attitude of the owners being the success factors of this collective project.
